Goals are the bedrock of a coaching system that ensures your team gets strong AI coaching aligned with your company's objectives. This is the single most important input an Admin can provide to guide their organization toward proficient, high-quality AI use every day.
In this article, we will show you how to plan for goal cycles, define goals, and assign them to specific departments.
Getting Started
Understanding Cycles
Goals are time-based, since they must be measurable and aligned with your business calendar. You control how long a series of goals can run: at Pragmatico, we call these "Cycles."
A cycle is the period your company goals run for: you create one, add the goals that matter, then activate it so those goals start shaping your people's coaching. Some goals make sense to launch for a few weeks or a few months; others make sense for a quarter.
Pragmatico does not recommend one type of cycle duration over another, just that you have one cycle activated. Most of our customers enter their annual or quarterly goals.
Creating your first cycle.
From your dashboard, click on the left-side menu, open the “Goals and Policies" area, and select New cycle.
Give the cycle a Name, then set its Start date and End date. Quick cycles fill in the dates for the next 30, 60, or 90 days, and Quarters fill them in for a quarter you pick.
Your new cycle appears as a chip near the top of the page, alongside any others.
Creating your first goals
Select the cycle you want to add goals to, then select New goals.
Write the goal itself in the Goal field, then add a Description.
Under Who is this goal for? leave the Whole company selected, or select Departments and pick the ones it applies to.
Use sub-goal if a goal needs breaking down. Type into the field under Sub-goals or key results and select the plus beside it.
Goals can have an optional level of "sub goals" if you want to align specific KPI's bundled underneath your core goal.
[Optional] Add an AI Impact note to any goal you want reflected in coaching. The note answers one question: how do you expect AI to change how this goal gets achieved?
[Optional] Ranking your goals:
In practice, not all goals have the same priority. As an admin, you can set your goals' priority to ensure the highest priority always remains the highest priority. You can always edit this at any point after your goals have been created.
Select Edit goals
Drag the goals into the order you want, or type a number into a rank box.
Select Save goal.
Activate Your First Cycle
Once your cycle and goals are created, you can activate these for organization!
Select Activate cycle when the cycle is ready.
What happens next
You activate a cycle; it doesn't activate on its own. A cycle never activates itself, and activating one cycle does not end another, so you can have several cycles active at once. Check that this is what you want.
Once the cycle is active, every goal in it that has an AI Impact note becomes eligible to shape your people's monthly coaching notes. Goals without an AI Impact note stay visible to you and never influence coaching.
